Caring Associates are a small team of individuals (within our larger Caring Ministry program of calls, visits, rides, meals, etc.) with special skills such as nursing, social work, counseling, or even real estate. There are currently four CAs who have provided on-going, long-term services to six people in the past year. Terry Lambert (Caring Coordinator) consults with Rev. Mark Stringer to determine when a Caring Associate might be appropriate, and whether services ought to be short (e.g., support and a referral) or long term (e.g., visiting someone more than once or twice).
Some possible times when CA services are needed are during a long term illness, divorce, dying or death of a family member, homelessness, mental illness, an abusive relationship, or the need for in-home assistance (e.g. organizing a move, hoarding, etc.) If you, or someone you know, needs assistance, please contact Terry at caring@ucdsm.org or (515) 657-7672, or click here to request caring assistantce.
